The Story of the Songkla Trip

We are finally back!

Chronology of arrivals:

6/12: myself

7/12: am-the students

pm-Puan and Dr Suhana

8/12: am - the Dean

pm- Dr Johan and Ms Sharon

9/12: Dr Gan

actual workshop date: 8 & 9th Dec.'09.

Workshop participants: 8 C.O.P members + 8 PSU students (which was later reduced to 5 main ones ie Film,Pup,Oat,Meaw,Joy)(note: our boys sort off 'fell in love' with the Thai gurls) + Jane (someone from CMU who came together with Bruce)

All in all I think the workshop was a success.Sure, language was a major problem but somehow we managed. We mastered the art of body language quite well here (not only during class but also when bargaining during shopping/buying food). Puan was very impressed with our members as was Ms Atchara with her students. I do hope the Thai students actually understood what we taught them and not nod just for the sake of nodding. And the what's with the banana dance? it seems that everywhere we go, the banana dance is THE thing to do and they love it!

Hisyam got lots of leg pulling, from myself, his friends and the Thai's especially from the Thai gurls...

Lots of joking around, laughter, leg pulling, never-will-forget incidents.

Lots of shopping as well.Stella got it most from the other gurls since she was the only one with a shopping list and what a long list it was.Btw, the trip to Greenway night market was really worth it and the tuk-tuk ride was..well, fun (you gurls know what I mean). Sigh! shopping and women always go hand in hand. What did we buy? generally tourist stuff: t-shirts,keychains,silk purses,Silk,shoes/slippers,costume jewellery.

Lots of sightseeing too- The Thai's brought us (lecturer's and students) to Songkla after the workshop/seminar on the 9th. Had a superb lunch and a newly opened restaurant. Went to Samila Beach, Monkey Hill (or does it come in another name?), the Mermaid statue. After which we had a wonderful seaside dinner (the photo above) .The boys and Ka Yee went with the Thai students to the Lantern Festival on the 10th. Whatever happened there is their secret.

Lots of food-Thai food at its best. Even the food at the various food court in PSU was good. Not to mention the ones sold by the street hawkers. I think I had the best ABC so far ie the one at Greenway.Dahler boleh pilih nak letak apa and it was really filling. The price tag? B15 (approx. RM1.50)

While we were busy conducting the workshop, the other lecturers were busy in the seminar hosted by PSU law school. No idea what happened but future exchange programs and similar visits are in the cards.

So thank you ms Arthcara, Ms Tawan, Film, Pup, Meaw, Oat, Joy, Bumbim, PSU for having us there..for showing us around..for a good experience...
